Organize cables

Today I wanted to talk about how I organize my cables and wires. They easily get tangled and when you want to unplug something it is not always easy to find the right one. Beside that, a huge amount of cables hanging around in your room does not look pretty. This is how to clear your clutter.

Cable Box
I really don’t like it when I see a huge amount of tangled cables. I think it makes a room look messy, so what I use to hide my cables is a cable box. It is a really simple and effective way to organize your cables. I got mine from laptopverpakking.nl. This particular one is called the Blue Lounge – Cable Box White. I got the largest one, but I know they come in different sizes. Inside the cable box there is a power strip where you can plug everything into. You can put the cable box under your desk, TV or your bed!

Make Your Own Labels
To organize your cables inside the cable box I recommend to label every cable you plug into the power strip. This makes it easier to find the right cable when you want to unplug something. You do not have to buy labels. I made them myself by cutting little squares from thick colored paper. After that I used my heart shaped punch from Flying Tiger to punch wholes in the labels. Make a little cut from the side into the heart so you can attach the labels to the cables. Give every cable a name and write it on the label and you are done!

Cable Clips
I find the cable clips in the picture above really useful. They are adhesive which makes it easy to stick them to the back of a piece of furniture. It is really practical because it prevents the cable from falling down when you unplug something. I know these are pretty expensive in the stores here in the Netherlands, but I found them for much cheaper on sammydress.com.

This is how I organize all of my wires and cables in my home. How do you organize yours?

Wat een leuk idee die kaartjes eraan 🙂 Cable clips blijven bij mij na verloop van tijd helaas nooit goed zitten, dan liggen ze ineens weer op de grond etc.
