Can you believe it, it is almost Christmas! It is such a relief to have a few days off now. Last night I decided to bake a cake, because my parents and sisters are coming over today. I didn’t want it to be just a regular cake, but something more christmassy, so I came up with this snowy mountainous landscape with cute little christmas trees. It is extremely easy to create and takes up barely any time.
For the cake
I just went to grocery store Albert Heijn
to pick up a cake mix, the only thing that needs to be added to the mixture is water, super simple and inexpensive! I made the cake by following the recipe, except I split the mixture in two and added some cocoa powder to one half of the mixture. Then I gently mixed the two halves together to create a really nice marble effect.
I let the cake cool down a bit and created some icing
for the cake. For the icing you only need some powdered sugar and a tiny little bit of water. Just pour some powdered sugar in a bowl and add a small amount of water. Then blend it until is it kind of thick mixture. Then gently cover the top of the cake with icing and wait for it to dry. If you want to you can add some sparkles like I did.
Now it is time to plant some christmas trees. These trees are made of marzipan and covered in dark chocolate. You can get these at Albert Heijn as well. I added the trees by using some skewers.
For the finishing touch I added a red bow to get even more of a christmas feeling. I used skewers for this as well. I am really happy with the way it turned out, I think it is just an adorable cake!
What do you think of my christmas cake?
